Unspecified (context-dependent within Adhyaya 36; likely a sage addressing a ruler/creator figure as 'lokeśa')

Concept: Earthly kingship is to be established for loka-śreyas (welfare of worlds), so that human enjoyment is regulated by worship and duty.

Application: Build life-structures (work, family, leadership) that explicitly support daily worship and ethical livelihood; let prosperity be anchored in gratitude and offering.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: vira

Type: city

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A cosmic council scene where the ‘Lord of worlds’ is implored to manifest earthly kingship: the earth appears as a green-gold sphere below, awaiting consecration. In the foreground, sages and luminous beings gesture toward a vision of humans performing pūjā—lamp flames, flowers, and offerings—while fields and cities flourish under dharmic rule.","primary_figures":["a sage-petitioner","Lokesh (world-lord figure, contextually Brahmā/Indra)","visionary humans performing pūjā"],"setting":"Threshold between celestial court and a visionary panorama of Bhū-loka—temples, farms, and orderly towns.","lighting_mood":"golden dawn","color_palette":["earth green","marigold gold","saffron","sky blue","smoke gray"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: central enthroned world-lord receiving petition, below a tiered vignette of earth with a temple where devotees offer lamps and flowers; heavy gold leaf on halos and temple vimana, rich reds/greens, ornate borders with lotus and conch motifs, jewel-like detailing.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: lyrical split-scene—upper celestial petition, lower earthly landscape with tiny worshippers at a shrine; soft washes, delicate trees and rivers implied, refined faces, cool blues and greens with warm saffron accents.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: stylized earth-goddess-like landscape panel beneath the petitioning figures; bold outlines, flat yet vibrant pigments, temple-lamp motifs, symmetrical composition, red-yellow-green dominance.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: earth as a lotus-garden mandala with a central shrine; surrounding panels show devotees doing ārati and offering garlands; deep indigo background, gold highlights, intricate floral borders, peacocks near the shrine, conch and lotus motifs."}

FAQs

It frames earthly sovereignty as a means to promote the welfare of the worlds, not merely personal power—rule is justified when it supports order and well-being.

The verse links prosperity and rightful enjoyment of the earth to the practice of worship, implying that reverence for the sacred upholds dharma and social stability.

Authority should be established for collective good, and material enjoyment should be rooted in dharmic conduct—especially honoring the divine through pūjā.
