FAQs

They are the standard sixteen services in formal pūjā (such as welcoming, offering a seat, water for washing, arghya, sipping water, bath, clothing, fragrance, flowers, incense, lamp, food offering, betel, circumambulation/obeisance, etc.), performed as an expression of reverent hospitality to the deity.

It presents worship as incomplete without benevolent action: after honoring the deity with devotion, one extends dharma through hospitality and charity, supporting those associated with learning and ritual life.

The verse teaches proportional giving: sincerity and devotion matter, and charitable duties should be fulfilled without pretense or financial harm, in a way that is sustainable for the giver.
