Glory of Puruṣottama: Pañcatīrthī Observance and Narasiṃha Worship
dṛṣṭvā sakṛjjyeṣṭhaśukladvādaśyāṃ puruṣottamam | kṛtopavāsaḥ prāpnoti tato'dhikataraṃ phalam || 4 ||
Narada
Vrata: Dvādaśī-vrata (Puruṣottama-darśana on Jyeṣṭha śukla Dvādaśī)
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It elevates a specific sacred time—Jyeṣṭha Śukla Dvādaśī—and teaches that even a single darśana of Puruṣottama, when supported by upavāsa, yields exceptionally high spiritual merit (phala).
Bhakti is expressed through darśana (reverent beholding of the Lord) combined with disciplined observance (upavāsa), showing that devotion is both heartfelt worship and regulated vrata-practice.
Kalā/astronomical time-reckoning used in ritual practice: identifying the lunar month (Jyeṣṭha), the bright fortnight (śukla pakṣa), and the tithi (dvādaśī) to perform a vrata for maximum phala.
