सनत्कुमार उवाच । किं त्वं नारद जानासि पूर्वजन्मनि यत्त्वया । प्राप्तं भगवतः साक्षाच्छूलिनो युगलात्मकम् ॥ १ ॥

sanatkumāra uvāca | kiṃ tvaṃ nārada jānāsi pūrvajanmani yattvayā | prāptaṃ bhagavataḥ sākṣācchūlino yugalātmakam || 1 ||

Sanatkumāra sprach: „O Nārada, erinnerst du dich an das, was du in deiner früheren Geburt wusstest—nämlich an das, was du unmittelbar vom erhabenen Herrn Śūlin (Śiva) in seiner paarhaften, zweifachen Gestalt (yugala) empfangen hast?“
