The Description of the Worship of Rāma and Others
Rāmādi-pūjā-vidhāna
ekākṣaro raghupatermaṃtraḥ kalpadrumo'paraḥ | brahmā muniḥ syādgāyatrī chaṃdo rāmo'sya devatā || 104 ||
Narada (teaching in the Narada–Sanatkumara dialogue context)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It declares the one-syllabled Rāma-mantra as a “kalpadruma” (wish-fulfilling source), and gives its canonical mantra-identifiers—ṛṣi, chandas, and devatā—showing it is a complete, empowered mantra for sādhana.
By centering devotion on Rāma as the devatā of the mantra, it frames bhakti as direct remembrance and japa oriented to the Lord, with mantra-vidhi supporting steady, disciplined devotion.
It highlights Chandas (metre) and the standard mantra-śāstra method of specifying ṛṣi–chandas–devatā, a technical requirement used in ritual recitation and mantra application.
