This is the chapter-colophon marking the completion and formal authentication of Adhyāya 72, identifying its theme—Hayagrīva worship—and locating it precisely within the Purāṇa’s internal structure (Pūrva-bhāga, Sanatkumāra-vibhāga, Third Pāda).
By naming the chapter as “Hayagrīva-upāsanā-nirūpaṇa,” it frames devotion as structured upāsanā—disciplined worship directed to Hayagrīva (a Viṣṇu form associated with knowledge), aligning bhakti with mantra, reverence, and scriptural method.
The verse itself is a technical colophon, but it situates the topic inside Book 1.3 (the Vedāṅga/technical sciences stream), implying that Hayagrīva-upāsanā is treated as a knowledge-oriented discipline supporting śāstra-study, correct recitation, and learning.
