Dīkṣā, Mantra-Types, Mantra-Doṣas, and Qualifications of Ācārya–Śiṣya
सिद्धिर्न जायते तेषां कल्पकोटिशतैरपि । छिन्नादिदोषदुष्टानां मंत्राणां साधनं ब्रुवे ॥ ६० ॥
siddhirna jāyate teṣāṃ kalpakoṭiśatairapi | chinnādidoṣaduṣṭānāṃ maṃtrāṇāṃ sādhanaṃ bruve || 60 ||
Für solche Mantras, die durch Mängel wie Abbruch und dergleichen verdorben sind, entsteht keine Vollendung, selbst nicht in Hunderten von Krores von Weltzeitaltern. Nun werde ich die rechte Methode der Sādhana darlegen, um jene Mantras zu vollbringen (zu berichtigen und erfolgreich anzuwenden).

It teaches that mantra-siddhi depends on purity and correctness; a mantra corrupted by defects cannot yield fruit, so disciplined rectification and proper sadhana are essential.
It implies that devotion must be expressed through right practice—careful recitation and faithful observance—so that the devotee’s worship becomes effective rather than merely emotional or careless.
It highlights Vedanga disciplines like Śikṣā (phonetics) and Vyākaraṇa (grammar), stressing that correct sound, form, and transmission of mantras are prerequisites for ritual efficacy.
