The Greatness of the Gaṅgā
jaḍo'pi yāti pūjyatvaṃ satsaṅgājjagatītale | kalāmātro'pi śītāṃśuḥ śambhunā svīkṛto yathā || 8 ||
Sanatkumāra (teaching Nārada on the power of sat-saṅga)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It teaches that transformation is driven by sat-saṅga: even someone lacking refinement can become venerable when shaped by the presence, values, and discipline of the righteous.
Bhakti is nourished by proximity to devotees and teachers; sat-saṅga awakens faith, corrects habits, and makes one fit for worship and service—just as divine acceptance elevates what seems small.
While not a technical Vedāṅga lesson, it implicitly supports Śikṣā and Vyākaraṇa-style discipline: refinement comes through proper guidance and repeated exposure to correct conduct and speech in the company of the learned.
