The Greatness of Viṣṇu
Viṣṇor Māhātmya
tasmācchṛṇuṣva viprendra devo nārāyaṇo'vyayaḥ | jñānato'jñānato vāpi pūjakānāṃ vimuktidaḥ || 48 ||
Sanatkumara (addressing Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It emphasizes Nārāyaṇa’s saving grace: sincere worship itself becomes a cause of liberation, even when the devotee lacks complete doctrinal knowledge.
It presents bhakti-centered worship (pūjā) as effective by the Lord’s compassion—liberation is not restricted to intellectual mastery, but accessible through devotion to Nārāyaṇa.
No specific Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa, Jyotiṣa, or Śikṣā) is taught here; the practical takeaway is that correct ritual understanding helps, but the verse prioritizes devotion and worship as the decisive factor.
