The Greatness of Viṣṇu
Uttaṅka’s Hymn, Hari’s Manifestation, and the Boon of Bhakti
Narada
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It teaches the immediate, embodied response to divine darśana: recognizing Viṣṇu (Garuḍa-dhvaja) and offering total surrender through daṇḍavat praṇāma, a hallmark of humble bhakti.
Bhakti is shown as reverential action rooted in recognition—upon seeing the Lord’s auspicious form and symbols, the devotee-sage expresses devotion through full prostration, placing ego and body in service.
Ritual conduct (kalpa-style ācāra) is implied: proper bodily gesture in worship—daṇḍavat namaskāra as a prescribed devotional etiquette when approaching a deity or sacred presence.
