The Characteristics of Devotion to Hari
नारद उवाच । समाख्यातानि सर्वाणि योगाङ्गानि महामुने । इदानीमपि सर्वज्ञ यत्पृच्छामि तदुच्यताम् 1. ॥ १ ॥
nārada uvāca | samākhyātāni sarvāṇi yogāṅgāni mahāmune | idānīmapi sarvajña yatpṛcchāmi taducyatām 1. || 1 ||
Nārada sprach: „O großer Weiser, alle Glieder des Yoga sind dargelegt worden. Nun auch, o Allwissender, sprich aus, worum ich dich bitte.“
Narada
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It shows the ideal disciple’s attitude: after hearing the structured teaching on Yoga’s limbs, Nārada continues with humble, focused inquiry, indicating that realization requires ongoing questioning and clarification.
Though Bhakti is not named here, the tone of reverent surrender to the teacher (“O all-knowing one, please tell”) reflects the devotional disposition—śraddhā and receptivity—that the Narada Purana repeatedly treats as essential for higher practice.
No specific Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa) is taught in this verse; it functions as a transition in a didactic dialogue, marking continuation from previously explained Yoga-aṅgas to a new, more specific question.
