The Outline (Anukramaṇī) of the Vāyavīya (Vāyu) Purāṇa
Suta (narratorial voice presenting the phalaśruti of the Anukramaṇikā section)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It states a phalaśruti: disciplined vrata-practice (haviṣya diet) and reverent hearing/recitation of the Anukramaṇikā bestow Rudra-like spiritual potency and purity, emphasizing tapas, restraint, and śravaṇa as merit-bearing acts.
By praising śravaṇa (hearing) and śrāvaṇa (making others hear), it supports a core bhakti method—devotional listening and sharing sacred narration—while coupling it with niyama (regulated living) to stabilize devotion.
The verse reflects the practical discipline of ritual observance (niyama) and the study practice of structured textual summaries (anukramaṇikā), useful for systematic learning and recitation traditions connected with Vedic-style pedagogy.
