Narada Purana — Purva Bhaga, Shloka 14

द्वादशमासेषु अष्टमी-व्रत-कथनम्

Account of the Aṣṭamī Vow Across the Twelve Months

ततो द्विजान् भोजयित्वा परेऽह्नि स्वयमप्युत । भुक्त्वा समापयेदद्व्रतं संततिवर्धनम् ॥ १४ ॥

tato dvijān bhojayitvā pare'hni svayamapyuta | bhuktvā samāpayedadvrataṃ saṃtativardhanam || 14 ||

Dann, am folgenden Tag, nachdem man die Dvija, die zweimal Geborenen (Brahmanen), gespeist hat, soll man auch selbst essen; so hat man nach der Mahlzeit dieses Gelübde, das Nachkommenschaft und Geschlecht mehrt, ordnungsgemäß zu vollenden.
