Account of the Aṣṭamī Vow Across the Twelve Months
Narada (instructional narration within the ritual context; dialogue framework traditionally with Sanatkumara brothers)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It teaches the complete etiquette of worship—offerings to the deity, purification through ācamanam, and concluding merit through hospitality (feeding vipras) and dana (dakṣiṇā), making the rite whole (pūrṇa).
Bhakti is expressed not only by offering naivedya but also by serving the Lord’s devotees and learned Brahmanas; the devotion becomes embodied as service (sevā) and generosity (dāna).
Kalpa (ritual procedure) is emphasized: the ordered steps of offering naivedya, presenting ācamanam, feeding qualified recipients, and giving dakṣiṇā as the prescribed completion of a rite.
