Vrata: Pañcamī-vratas (general set; introduction)
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It introduces Pañcamī-vratas as a dharmic discipline whose power is activated through bhakti; the verse frames the chapter as a practical guide to attaining legitimate aims through devotional observance.
It states that merely performing a vow is not the core; undertaking it “with devotion” (bhaktyā samāsthāya) is what leads to success, highlighting intention and surrender as the driving force behind ritual efficacy.
The verse points to calendrical/ritual timing—Pañcamī (the fifth tithi)—which connects to Jyotiṣa-style tithi reckoning and to Kalpa-style vrata procedure, though details are promised in the following verses.
