Man soll dem Friedvollen geben, dem mit gezügeltem Geist, dem dem Dienst ergebenen, dem Neidlosen, dem Reinen; und vor allem einem wahren Vaiṣṇava.
Narada (teaching in an instructional, dharma-oriented sequence within the Purva Bhaga)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It defines the spiritual ethics of dāna: charity becomes most fruitful when offered to recipients established in peace, self-control, purity, service-mindedness, and freedom from envy—culminating in honoring a true Vaiṣṇava.
By prioritizing the sat-vaiṣṇava as a worthy recipient, the verse shows that serving and supporting genuine devotees is itself a form of Viṣṇu-bhakti and strengthens sattva, humility, and devotion in the giver.
It aligns with Kalpa/Dharma practice (ritual-ethics): dāna is not only about the act but also about adhikāra—selecting a qualified recipient based on character (śama, śauca, nirmatsaratā) to ensure the rite’s intended spiritual merit.
