It establishes the sanctity of Purāṇic knowledge by showing its protected transmission through a recognized ṛṣi-paramparā, culminating in Vyāsa, the great compiler who preserves dharma for later ages.
By grounding the Purāṇa in an authentic lineage, it reinforces trust (śraddhā) in the teachings that later guide Viṣṇu-bhakti and dharma; devotion is strengthened when scripture is known to be received through true teachers.
The verse emphasizes textual preservation and transmission (śāstra-paramparā), a practical foundation for applying Vedāṅga-based disciplines—such as correct recitation (Śikṣā) and accurate wording/interpretation (Vyākaraṇa)—in Purāṇic study.
