Dharma of rightful requestCourage / refusal to submit to intimidationLegitimacy and consent

FAQs

The verse distinguishes voluntary ethical transfer (through sincere personal request) from coerced surrender. It upholds fearlessness and principled consent as marks of righteous rule.

Vaṃśānucarita: dynastic episode emphasizing norms of political legitimacy.

Refusal to yield ‘even a little land’ under fear symbolizes guarding inner sovereignty: one should not concede even small principles to coercion; only genuine, dharmic appeal should move the will.
