सोऽपि नैच्छत्तदा दातुमाज्ञापूर्वं स्वधर्मवित् ।
प्रत्युवाच च तं दूतमलर्कः काशिभूभृतः ॥
so 'pi naicchat tadā dātum ājñā-pūrvaṃ sva-dharma-vit |
pratyuvāca ca taṃ dūtam alarkaḥ kāśi-bhūbhṛtaḥ ||
Damals wollte er es nicht ohne rechtmäßige Vollmacht aufgeben; seiner Pflicht bewusst, antwortete Alarka dem Gesandten des Königs von Kāśī.
