Adhyaya 27Madālasa’s Instruction to King Alarka: Royal Ethics, Self-Conquest, and Statecraft

पूर्णेन्दुमालोक्य यथा प्रीतिमान् जायते नरः ।

एवं यत्र प्रजाः सर्वा निर्वत्ता स्तच्छशिव्रतम् ॥

pūrṇendum ālokya yathā prītimān jāyate naraḥ | evaṃ yatra prajāḥ sarvā nirvattās tac chaśi-vratam ||

Wie ein Mensch beim Anblick des Vollmondes froh wird, so ist auch (das Ideal) dort, wo alle Untertanen zufrieden und fest gegründet sind—dies ist das „mondgleiche Gelübde“ (die mondhafte Weise des Königtums).
