Ballava (Bhīma) Seeks Employment as Royal Cook in Virāṭa’s Court
तमापतत्तं प्रसमीक्ष्य पाण्डवं विराटराडिन्दुमिवा भ्रसंवृतम् । समागतं पूर्णशशिप्रभाननं महानुभावं न चिरेण दृष्टवान्,उनका मुख पूर्ण चन्द्रमाके समान प्रकाशित हो रहा था। बादलोंसे ढके हुए चन्द्रमाकी भाँति शोभायमान महानुभाव पाण्डुनन्दनको आते देख राजा विराटकी दृष्टि सहसा उनकी ओर आकृष्ट हो गयी। निकट आनेपर शीघ्र ही उन्होंने बड़े गौरसे उनकी ओर देखा
tam āpatattaṃ prasmīkṣya pāṇḍavaṃ virāṭarāḍ indum ivā bhrasaṃvṛtam | samāgataṃ pūrṇaśaśiprabhānanaṃ mahānubhāvaṃ na cireṇa dṛṣṭavān ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: Als König Virāṭa den Pāṇḍava herannahen sah, wurde sein Blick sogleich zu ihm hingezogen—wie zum Mond, der selbst hinter Wolken noch leuchtet. Als der großherzige Mann näher kam, sein Antlitz strahlend wie der Vollmond, betrachtete der König ihn bald aus der Nähe, aufmerksam und prüfend.
