पाण्डुरेणातपत्रेण प्रियमाणेन मूर्थनि । शुशुभे स नरव्याप्रो गिरि: सूर्योदये यथा,उनके मस्तकपर श्वेत छत्र तना हुआ था, जिससे वे नरश्रेष्ठ भीष्म सूर्योदयकालमें उदयाचलकी भाँति सुशोभित हो रहे थे
pāṇḍureṇātapatreṇa priyamāṇena mūrdhani | śuśubhe sa naravyāghro giriḥ sūryodaye yathā ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: Mit einem weißen Sonnenschirm, hoch über seinem Haupt gehalten, strahlte jener Tiger unter den Menschen in voller Pracht — wie ein Berg beim Sonnenaufgang.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how rightful honor and dignified conduct are expressed through symbols of kingship (the white parasol). Ethical emphasis lies in recognizing merit and maintaining decorum: greatness is not merely power, but the capacity to embody and receive honor in a manner that elevates the community’s sense of order.
The narrator describes a distinguished hero being honored with a white parasol held over his head. This ceremonial detail makes him appear radiant, compared to a mountain illuminated at sunrise, signaling his eminence and the respect accorded to him.
