Dhaumya’s Counsel on Incognito Conduct in a Royal Household (राजवसतौ आचरण-निति)
असूयन्ति हि राजानो नराननृतवादिन: । तथैव चावमन्यन्ते नरान् पण्डितमानिन:,क्योंकि झूठ बोलनेवाले मनुष्योंसे राजालोग द्वेष मान लेते हैं। इसी तरह जो लोग अपनेको पण्डित मानते हैं, उनका भी राजा तिरस्कार करते हैं
asūyanti hi rājāno narān anṛtavādinaḥ | tathaiva cāvamanyante narān paṇḍitamāninaḥ ||
Könige, wahrlich, beginnen Männer zu verabscheuen, die Unwahrheit reden. Ebenso verachten sie jene, die sich nur einbilden, gelehrt zu sein. Der Rat besagt, dass man am Hof sowohl Lüge als auch prahlerische Zurschaustellung von Weisheit meiden soll, denn beides ruft königliches Missfallen hervor und untergräbt die eigene Stellung.
