उत्तरो भयविषण्णः — बृहन्नडेन धैर्योपदेशः
Uttara’s Panic and Bṛhannadā’s Stabilizing Counsel
वैशम्पायन उवाच श्रुत्वा तदर्जुनो वाक्यं राज्ञ: पुत्रस्य भाषत: । अतीतसमये काले प्रियां भार्यामनिन्दिताम्,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--राजन्! इस प्रकार बोलते हुए राजकुमार उत्तरकी वह बात सुनकर सब बातोंमें कुशल अर्जुन बहुत प्रसन्न हुए। उस समयतक उनके अज्ञातवासकी अवधि पूरी हो गयी थी। अतः उन्होंने अपनी सतीसाध्वी प्यारी पत्नी पांचाल-राजकुमारी द्रौपदीको, जिसका अमग्निसे प्रादुर्भाव हुआ था और जो तन््वंगी, सत्य-सरलता आदि सदगुणोंसे विभूषित तथा पतिके प्रिय एवं हितमें तत्पर रहनेवाली थी, एकान्तमें बुलाकर कहा--“कल्याणि! तुम मेरी बात मानकर राजकुमार उत्तरसे शीघ्र इस प्रकार कहो -
vaiśampāyana uvāca | śrutvā tad arjuno vākyaṁ rājñaḥ putrasya bhāṣataḥ | atīta-samaye kāle priyāṁ bhāryām aninditām ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: O König, als Arjuna—in allen Dingen kundig—die Worte des Königssohnes vernahm, war er überaus erfreut. Denn zu jener Zeit war die festgesetzte Frist bereits verstrichen; daher ließ er seine geliebte, untadelige Gemahlin im Verborgenen zu sich rufen, entschlossen, zugleich umsichtig und der Lage gemäß zu handeln.
