Virāṭa-parva Adhyāya 22 — Draupadī’s Abduction Attempt and Bhīma’s Suppression of the Kīcakas
तलाभ्यां स तु भीमेन वक्षस्यभिहतो बली । कीचको रोषसंतप्त: पदान्न चलित: पदम्,इतनेमें ही भीमने दोनों हथेलियोंसे कीचककी छातीपर प्रहार किया। चोट खाकर बलवान् कीचक क्रोधसे जल उठा, किंतु अपने स्थानसे एक पग भी विचलित नहीं हुआ
talābhyāṃ sa tu bhīmena vakṣasy abhihato balī | kīcako roṣa-saṃtaptaḥ padān na calitaḥ padam ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: Da wurde der mächtige Kīcaka von Bhīma mit beiden offenen Handflächen auf die Brust geschlagen. Obwohl der Schlag traf, loderte Kīcaka vor Zorn auf; doch er wich von seinem Standplatz nicht einmal einen Schritt—und zeigte damit sowohl seinen Stolz auf körperliche Kraft als auch die wachsende Überheblichkeit, die bald Vergeltung heraufbeschwören wird.
