Damayantī’s Distress, Proclamation of the Svayaṃvara, and the Gods’ Request
धृष्टद्युम्नपुरोगास्ते शभयामासुरञ्जसा । केशवं मधुरैर्वाक्यै: कालयुक्तैरमर्षितम्,धर्मराजकी वह बात सुनकर धृष्टद्युम्म आदि सभासदोंने समयोचित मधुर वचनोंद्वारा अमर्षमें भरे हुए श्रीकृष्णको शीघ्र ही शान्त किया
dhṛṣṭadyumnapurogās te śamayāmāsur añjasā | keśavaṃ madhurair vākyaiḥ kālayuktair amarṣitam ||
Yudhiṣṭhira sprach: „Mit Dhṛṣṭadyumna an der Spitze besänftigten die Versammelten Keśava, der vor Entrüstung brannte, sogleich mit süßen, zeitgemäßen und wohlbedachten Worten.“
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic governance of emotion: even justified outrage should be moderated through timely, gentle, and appropriate counsel, so that action proceeds from discernment rather than uncontrolled anger.
Kṛṣṇa (Keśava) is provoked and filled with indignation; Dhṛṣṭadyumna and the others in the assembly, led by him, quickly calm Kṛṣṇa down by speaking to him in sweet and timely words.
