Duryodhana’s Fast: Śakuni’s Consolation and the Summoning of a Kṛtyā
तानि सर्वाणि वाक्यानि यच्चान्यत् परिदेवितम् । विचिन्त्य नाधिगच्छामि गमनायेतराय वा
tāni sarvāṇi vākyāni yac cānyat paridevitam | vicintya nādhigacchāmi gamanāyetarāya vā ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: Wenn ich all jene Worte und jedes weitere Klagen bedenke, gelange ich dennoch zu keinem klaren Entschluss—ob es besser ist aufzubrechen oder anders zu handeln.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even after hearing many arguments and expressions of grief, one may still fail to discern the dharmically best course; the verse highlights the need for clearer discernment beyond emotion and conflicting counsel.
The narrator reports a moment of unresolved deliberation: after considering all that was said and the accompanying lamentation, no definite conclusion is reached about whether to depart or to choose an alternative course.
