The verse highlights divine concern for the vulnerable: even the gods attend to a helpless child’s basic need (what he will drink), suggesting that true power expresses itself through protective care and responsibility.
Indra (Śakra/Mahendra), radiant and powerful, comes to see a remarkable child. The assembled gods then ask Indra what the child will drink, setting up the next action regarding the child’s sustenance.
