समुद्रपानम् (Samudra-pānam) — Maitrāvaruṇi Drains the Ocean; Devas Seek a Means to Refill It
अस्माकं भयभीतानां नित्यशो भगवान् गति: । ततत्त्वार्ता: प्रयाचामो वरं त्वां वरदो हासि,सदा आप ही हम भयभीत देवताओंके लिये आश्रय होते आये हैं। अत: इस समय भी संकटमें पड़कर हम आपसे वर माँग रहे हैं; क्योंकि आप ही वर देनेके योग्य हैं
asmākaṁ bhayabhītānāṁ nityaśo bhagavān gatiḥ | tat-tattvārtāḥ prayācāmo varaṁ tvāṁ varado hy asi ||
O gesegneter Herr, für uns, die immer wieder von Furcht getroffen werden, bist du seit jeher Zuflucht und letzter Halt. Darum bitten wir dich, von dieser Gefahr bedrängt und nach dem wahren Heilmittel suchend, nun um eine Gabe—denn nur du bist wahrhaft imstande, Gaben zu gewähren.
