Udyoga Parva 63: Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Counsel Reminding Duryodhana of Opponent Strength
इदमन्यत् प्रवक्ष्यामि यथा दृष्टं गिरो मया । श्रुत्वा तदपि कौरव्य यथा श्रेयस्तथा कुरु,कौरवनन्दन! पूर्वकालमें किसी पर्वतपर मैंने जैसा देखा था, उसके अनुसार यह एक दूसरी बात बता रहा हूँ। इसे भी सुनकर आपको जिसमें अपनी भलाई जान पड़े, वही कीजिये
idam anyat pravakṣyāmi yathā dṛṣṭaṃ giro mayā | śrutvā tad api kauravya yathā śreyas tathā kuru, kauravanandana ||
Vidura sprach: „Ich will dir noch etwas anderes sagen, genau so, wie ich es einst mit eigenen Augen sah und wie diese Worte in mir geblieben sind. Höre auch dies, o Spross der Kurus; und handle dann so, wie es wahrhaft zu deinem Heil führt.“
विदुर उवाच
Vidura frames his counsel as guidance toward śreyas—true welfare—urging the Kuru elder to listen carefully and then choose the course that is genuinely beneficial rather than merely pleasing or expedient.
In Udyoga Parva, Vidura continues advising the Kuru ruler/elder during the tense pre-war negotiations. He introduces another illustrative account from what he has seen/heard, preparing to deliver a moral example meant to steer the listener toward prudent, dharmic action.
