Adhyaya 32: Saṃjaya’s Return, Audience with Dhṛtarāṣṭra, and Ethical Admonition

समागमश्न सखिभिर्महांश्षैव धनागम: । पुत्रेण च परिष्वज्भ: संनिपातश्न मैथुने,भारत! मित्रोंसे समागम, अधिक धनकी प्राप्ति, पुत्रका आलिंगन, मैथुनमें संलग्न होना, समयपर प्रिय वचन बोलना, अपने वर्गके लोगोंमें उन्नति, अभीष्ट वस्तुकी प्राप्ति और जनसमाजमें सम्मान--ये आठ हर्षके सार दिखायी देते हैं और ये ही अपने लौकिक सुखके भी साधन होते हैं

samāgamaś ca sakhabhir mahāṁś caiva dhanāgamaḥ | putreṇa ca pariṣvaṅgaḥ sannipātaś ca maithune bhārata |

Vidura sagt: O Bhārata, dies gilt als das Wesen der Freude im weltlichen Leben: das Treffen mit Freunden, der Erwerb reichen Vermögens, die Umarmung des Sohnes, die Vereinigung in geschlechtlicher Intimität, zur rechten Zeit angenehme Worte zu sprechen, der Aufstieg in der eigenen Gemeinschaft, das Erlangen des Gewünschten und Ehre in der Öffentlichkeit. Zugleich sind dies die Mittel, mit denen gewöhnliche Menschen säkulares Glück suchen und sichern.
