Amba approaches the Paraśurāma context; Hotravāhana’s counsel and Akṛtavraṇa’s report (अम्बोपाख्यानम्—रामदर्शनप्रसङ्गः)
मम राम: सखा वत्मे प्रीतियुक्त: सुहृच्च मे । जमदग्निसुतो वीर: सर्वशस्त्रभृतां वर:,वत्से! सम्पूर्ण शस्त्रधारियोंमें श्रेष्ठ जमदग्निनन्दन वीरवर परशुराम मेरे सखा और प्रेमी सुहृद हैं
mama rāmaḥ sakhā vatme prītiyuktaḥ suhṛc ca me | jamadagnisuto vīraḥ sarvaśastrabhṛtāṃ varaḥ ||
Rāma (Paraśurāma) ist mein Freund und Weggefährte, mir in Zuneigung und Wohlwollen verbunden. Jener Held, der Sohn des Jamadagni—der Erste unter allen Waffenträgern—ist mein verlässlicher, treuer Wohlgesinnter.
होत्रवाहन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical value of steadfast friendship and benevolent intent (suhṛt-bhāva), joined with excellence and discipline in one’s craft—here, martial skill—showing that true strength is ideally allied with goodwill.
Hotravāhana identifies Paraśurāma (Rāma Jāmadagnya) as his close friend and affectionate well-wisher, praising him as the foremost among weapon-bearing heroes, thereby establishing Paraśurāma’s stature and their relationship within the episode.
