भीष्मद्रोणयोर्दुर्योधनं प्रति शमोपदेशः | Bhīṣma and Droṇa’s Counsel of Conciliation to Duryodhana

अथान्तरिक्षे वागासीद्‌ दिव्यरूपा मनोरमा । सहस्राक्षसम: कुन्ति भविष्यत्येष ते सुत:,कुन्ती बोली--केशव! तुम अर्जुनसे जाकर कहना, तुम्हारे जन्मके समय जब मैं नारियोंसे घिरी हुई आश्रमके सूतिकागारमें बैठी थी, उसी समय आकाशमें यह दिव्यरूपा मनोरम वाणी सुनायी दी--“कुन्ती! तेरा यह पुत्र इन्द्रके समान पराक्रमी होगा

Transliteration

athāntarikṣe vāg āsīd divyarūpā manoramā | sahasrākṣasamaḥ kunti bhaviṣyaty eṣa te sutaḥ ||

Translation

Da vernahm man aus dem Luftraum eine liebliche Stimme von göttlicher Gestalt: „O Kuntī, dieser dein Sohn wird Sahasrākṣa (Indra) ebenbürtig sein.“ Diese Verkündigung wirkt als prophetische Gewissheit über die dem Kind bestimmte Kraft und begründet die Erwartung heroischer Pflicht wie auch das sittliche Gewicht des heraufziehenden Krieges.
