Udyoga Parva Adhyāya 103: Garuḍa’s Protest, Viṣṇu’s Demonstration, and Counsel Toward Śama
वैशम्पायन उवाच ततः पुरंदरं विष्णुरुवाच भुवनेश्वरम् । अमृतं दीयतामस्मै क्रियताममरै: सम:
vaiśampāyana uvāca tataḥ puraṃdaraṃ viṣṇur uvāca bhuvaneśvaram | amṛtaṃ dīyatām asmai kriyatām amaraiḥ samaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: Da wandte sich Viṣṇu an Purandara, den Herrn der Welten: „Gebt ihm das Amṛta; macht ihn den Unsterblichen gleich.“
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Legitimate authority should reward merit and uphold cosmic order: when a being is deemed worthy, even the highest powers may confer protection and honor (symbolized by amṛta) so that the recipient stands on equal footing with the immortals.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Viṣṇu speaks to Indra (Purandara), instructing him to give amṛta to a certain person and to have him recognized as equal to the gods—an act of divine endorsement and elevation.
