Ahiṃsā as the Superior Dharma: Practical and Scriptural Reasoning
yamasya bhavane deva pātyante pāpakarmiṇaḥ | prasādaye tvāṃ varada prasāda kuru me prabho ||
Actions have moral consequences: sinful conduct leads to suffering in Yama’s realm. The verse also highlights the role of humility and seeking divine grace as a means of protection and moral realignment.
Nārada describes the fate of sinners in Yama’s abode and then turns to a divine addressee, pleading for favor and protection, framing the discussion within the Shānti Parva’s broader concern for dharma and the results of karma.
