भीष्म उवाच इति तेनानुयुक्त: स तमुवाच महातपा: । महद्वाक्यमसंदिग्धं पुष्कलार्थपर्द शुचि,भीष्मजी कहते हैं--राजन्‌! देवलके इस प्रकार प्रश्न करनेपर महातपस्वी जैगीषव्यने उनसे इस प्रकार संदेहरहित, प्रचुर अर्थका बोधक, पवित्र और उत्तम वचन कहा

bhīṣma uvāca iti tenānuyuktaḥ sa tam uvāca mahātapāḥ | mahadvākyam asaṃdigdhaṃ puṣkalārtha-pradaṃ śuci ||

Bhishma sprach: So befragt, erwiderte der große Asket mit Worten von Gewicht, ohne Zweifel, rein und reich an Sinn—eine Rede, die das Handeln zu leiten und das Rechte zu erhellen vermag.
