Educational Q&A

The verse models dharmic inquiry: a responsible ruler seeks a truthful, complete account of a person’s inner power (tejas) and past actions, implying that ethical judgment should rest on verified deeds and reality (yathātattvam), not rumor or partial knowledge.

Yudhiṣṭhira respectfully addresses a revered interlocutor as ‘best/foremost of men’ and requests a detailed, accurate narration about someone’s extraordinary splendor and the great deeds that person performed in earlier times.
