शल्यस्य सेनापत्याभ्युपगमः | Śalya’s Acceptance of Command
न निवारयितु शक््या: संग्रामात्ते परंतपा:,“इसलिये अब उन शत्रुसंतापी वीरोंको युद्धसे रोका नहीं जा सकता। जबसे द्रौपदीको क्लेश दिया गया, तबसे वह दुःखी हो मेरे विनाशका संकल्प लेकर प्रतिदिन मिट्टीकी वेदीपर सोया करती है। जबतक वैरका पूरा बदला न चुका लिया जाय, तबतकके लिये उसने यह व्रत ले रखा है
na nivārayitu śakyāḥ saṅgrāmāt te paraṃtapāḥ |
Sañjaya sprach: „O Bezwinger der Feinde, jene Helden lassen sich nun nicht mehr vom Kampf zurückhalten. Seit Draupadī gedemütigt und gequält wurde, lebt sie in Kummer und schläft Tag für Tag auf einem Altar aus Erde, fest entschlossen zu unserem Untergang. Diesen Schwur hält sie, bis die Feindschaft vollständig vergolten ist.“
