Rājasūyābhiṣeka-darśana: Duryodhana’s Observation of the Consecration
स हि धर्म पुरस्कृत्य दीर्घदर्शी परं हितम् । उभयो: पक्षयोरयुक्तिं वक्ष्यत्यर्थविनिश्वयम्
sa hi dharma-puraskṛtya dīrgha-darśī paraṁ hitam | ubhayoḥ pakṣayor ayuktiṁ vakṣyaty artha-viniścayam ||
Dhṛtarāṣṭra sagte: „Denn Vidura stellt das Dharma voran und blickt weit voraus. Mit dem höchsten Wohl vor Augen wird er für beide Seiten den rechten Weg darlegen und ein entscheidendes Urteil darüber sprechen, was zu tun ist.“
धृतराष्ट उवाच
Ethical decision-making should be guided by dharma and long-term welfare, not by partiality; a wise counselor seeks what is proper for both sides and gives a clear, principled conclusion.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra expresses confidence that Vidura, known for his dharmic integrity and foresight, will advise a course of action that is beneficial and appropriate for both factions involved in the dispute.
