प्रवृद्धशुद्रद्रमवीरुदोष धी प्रवृद्धनानाविधनिर्सरौकसौ । यथाचलौ वा चलितौ महाबलौ तथा महास्त्रैरितरेतरं हत:,जिनके शिखर, वृक्ष, लता-गुल्म और ओषधि सभी विशाल एवं बढ़े हुए हों तथा जो नाना प्रकारके बड़े-बड़े झरनोंके उद्गमस्थान हों, ऐसे दो पर्वतके समान वे महाबली कर्ण और अर्जुन आगे बढ़कर अपने महान् अस्त्रोंद्वारा एक-दूसरेपर आघात करने लगे

Sañjaya sprach: Wie zwei gewaltige Berge — deren Gipfel, Bäume, Ranken, Sträucher und Heilkräuter üppig emporgewachsen sind und die die Quellen vieler großer Wasserfälle bergen — so rückten Karna und Arjuna, von ungeheurer Kraft, vor und schlugen mit ihren erhabensten Waffen wechselseitig aufeinander ein.
