बलाहकेनेव महाबलाहको यदृच्छया वा गिरिणा यथा गिरि: । तथा धनुर्ज्यातलनेमिनिस्वनै: समीयतुस्ताविषुवर्षवर्षिणौ,जैसे महान् मेघ किसी दूसरे मेघके साथ अथवा दैवेच्छासे एक पर्वत दूसरे पर्वतके साथ टक्कर लेनेके लिये उद्यत हो, उसी प्रकार धनुषकी प्रत्यंचा, हथेली तथा रथके पहियोंकी गम्भीर ध्वनिके साथ बाणोंकी वर्षा करते हुए वे दोनों वीर एक-दूसरेके सामने आये
balāhakeneva mahābalāhako yadṛcchayā vā giriṇā yathā giriḥ | tathā dhanurjyātalaneminisvanaiḥ samīyatus tāv iṣuvarṣavarṣiṇau ||
Sañjaya sprach: Wie eine mächtige Wolke einer anderen Wolke begegnet, oder wie ein Berg — durch die Wendung des Schicksals — heranstürzt, um mit einem anderen Berg zusammenzuprallen, so rückten jene beiden Helden, Pfeilschauer verströmend, einander entgegen, begleitet vom tiefen Klang der Bogensehnen, vom Klatschen der Hände und vom Dröhnen der Wagenräder.
