भीमसेनं महाबाहुं मार्गणै: समवारयन् । निषंगी, कवची, पाशी, दण्डधार, धनु्ग्रह (धनुग्रह), अलोलुप, शल, सन्ध (सत्यसन्ध), वातवेग और सुवर्चा (सुवर्चस)--ये एक साथ आकर भाईकी मृत्युसे दुःखी हो महाबाहु भीमसेनको अपने बाणोंद्वारा रोकने लगे ।। स वार्यमाणो विशिखै: समन्तात् तैर्महारथै:

bhīmasenaṃ mahābāhuṃ mārgaṇaiḥ samavārayan |
niṣaṅgī kavacī pāśī daṇḍadhāro dhanugrahaḥ |
alolupaḥ śalaḥ sandhaḥ satyasandho vātavegaḥ suvarcāś ca—te ekatra samāgatā bhrātṛmaraṇaduḥkhitāḥ mahābāhuṃ bhīmasenaṃ svabāṇair avārayan ||
sa vāryamāṇo viśikhaiḥ samantāt tair mahārathaiḥ |
Sanjaya sprach: Jene Krieger—Niṣaṅgī, Kavacī, Pāśī, Daṇḍadhāra, Dhanugraha, Alolupa, Śala, Sandha, Satyasandha, Vātavega und Suvarcas—kamen gemeinsam, vom Tod ihres Bruders bekümmert, und suchten mit ihren Pfeilen den starkarmigen Bhīmasena von allen Seiten aufzuhalten. So, von den Geschossen jener großen Wagenkämpfer ringsum bedrängt, sah sich Bhīma aus jeder Richtung angegriffen.

A group of named warriors, distressed by the death of their brother, assemble and simultaneously attack Bhīma, attempting to halt his advance by showering him with arrows from all sides; Bhīma is described as being checked and surrounded by these great chariot-fighters.
