दृष्टवा हि बहव: शूरा: शक्रतुल्यपराक्रमा:
dṛṣṭvā hi bahavaḥ śūrāḥ śakra-tulya-parākramāḥ | prayāhi śīghraṃ govinda sūta-putra-jighāṃsayā ||
Sañjaya sprach: „Da du siehst, dass viele Helden zugegen sind, an Kraft Indra gleich, brich sogleich auf, o Govinda — eile davon mit dem Entschluss, den ‚Sohn des Wagenlenkers‘ (Karna) zu erschlagen.“ Die Zeile trägt die Dringlichkeit des Schlachtfeldes: entschlossenes Handeln wird gefordert, als strategisch und zugleich moralisch schwerwiegende Absicht, einen gewaltigen Gegner zu beenden, dessen Fortbestehen das Blutvergießen verlängert.
