एतदू विस्तरशो युद्ध प्रब्रूहि कुशलो हासि । न हि तृप्यामि वीराणां शृण्वानो विक्रमान् रणे,सूत! तुम युद्धसम्बन्धी इस समाचारका विस्तार-पूर्वक वर्णन करो, क्योंकि इस कार्यमें कुशल हो। रणभूमिमें वीरोंके पराक्रमका वर्णन सुनकर मुझे तृप्ति नहीं हो रही है
etad ū vistaraso yuddhaṁ prabrūhi kuśalo hāsi | na hi tṛpyāmi vīrāṇāṁ śṛṇvāno vikramān raṇe, sūta |
Śalya sprach: „Berichte mir diesen Kampf in aller Ausführlichkeit — du bist kundig in solcher Erzählung. Denn ich werde nicht satt: Wenn ich die Heldentaten der Krieger auf dem Schlachtfeld höre, erlischt mein Verlangen, mehr zu hören, nicht, o Wagenlenker.“
