शरं कालाग्निसंयुक्त विष्णुसोमसमायुतम् । उस समय दानव उन नगरोंकी ओर और कालाग्निसे संयुक्त एवं विष्णु तथा सोमकी शक्तिसे सम्पन्न उस बाणकी ओर भी आँख उठाकर देख न सके
śaraṃ kālāgnisaṃyuktaṃ viṣṇusomasamāyutam |
Vyāsa sprach: Ein einziger Pfeil — erfüllt von der verzehrenden Kraft des Feuers der Zeit und gestärkt durch die Macht Viṣṇus und Somas — wurde so überwältigend, dass die Dānavas nicht einmal die Augen zu jenen Städten erheben konnten, noch zu dem flammenden Geschoss selbst. Die Szene zeigt, wie Adharma, wenn er einer göttlich sanktionierten Macht begegnet, nicht nur im Kampf, sondern auch in Mut und Wahrnehmung zusammenbricht.
