अन्तर्दधु: प्रभा: सर्वा दीपैस्तैरव भासिता: । महामनस्वी योद्धाओंके अस्त्रों, कवचों और मणियोंकी सारी प्रभा उन प्रदीपोंके प्रकाशसे तिरोहित हो गयी थी ।। तस्मिन् कोलाहले युद्धे वर्तमाने निशामुखे
sañjaya uvāca |
antardadhuḥ prabhāḥ sarvā dīpais tair avabhāsitāḥ |
mahāmanasvī yoddhānāṃ astrāṇāṃ kavacānāṃ ca maṇīnāṃ sā prabhā dīpānāṃ prakāśena tirohitā babhūva ||
tasmin kolāhale yuddhe vartamāne niśāmukhe ||
Sañjaya sprach: „All jene Strahlen wurden gleichsam verschlungen—überstrahlt von den Lampen, die dort lodernd brannten. Der Glanz, der von den Waffen, Rüstungen und juwelenbesetzten Zierden der großherzigen Krieger ausging, wurde vom Lampenlicht verdunkelt. Und während in jenem lärmenden Kampf die Schlacht tobte, begann die Nacht eben erst herabzusinken.“
