अकम्पत महाराज भयत्रस्तेव चाड़ना | महाराज! दौड़ते हुए पैदल सैनिकोंके पैरोंकी धमकसे यह पृथ्वी भयभीत अबलाके समान काँपने लगी
sañjaya uvāca | akampata mahārāja bhayatrastā iva cāṇḍanā | mahārāja! dhāvataḥ padātisainikānāṃ pādānāṃ dhamakena iyaṃ pṛthivī bhayabhītā abalā iva kampitum ārabdhā |
Sañjaya sprach: O König, die Erde begann zu beben, als hätte die Furcht sie ergriffen. O großer König, vom donnernden Stampfen der rennenden Infanterie getroffen, erzitterte der Boden wie eine erschrockene, hilflose Frau — ein Bild, das die überwältigende, entmenschlichende Gewalt des Krieges hervorhebt.
