Droṇa-parva Adhyāya 114 — Karṇa–Bhīmasena Missile Exchange, Disarmament, and Arjuna’s Intervention
The verse highlights the psychology of wartime resolve: a speaker asserts readiness to confront even exceptionally powerful opponents. Ethically, it points to how courage and pride can intensify conflict, reminding readers that martial determination, while admired, also participates in the tragic momentum of war.
In the Drona Parva’s battle reporting, Sañjaya narrates the unfolding combat and the fighters’ declarations of intent. Here he reports a vow-like statement of meeting the Śakas in battle, describing them as possessing Indra-like prowess, underscoring the scale and ferocity of the forces involved.
