द्रोणस्य रथपर्यन्तं रथिनो रथमास्थिता: । कम्पयन्तो<भ्यवर्तन्त वेगमास्थाय मध्यमम्‌,वे पांचाल रथी रथपर बैठकर मध्यम वेगका आश्रय ले पृथ्वीको कँपाते हुए टद्रोणाचार्यके रथके अत्यन्त निकट जाकर उनका सामना करने लगे

droṇasya rathaparyantaṃ rathino rathamāsthitāḥ | kampayanto 'bhyavartanta vegamāsthāya madhyamam ||

Sañjaya sprach: Die Wagenkämpfer, auf ihre Streitwagen gestiegen, rückten bis an den äußersten Rand von Droṇas Wagen heran. In gemessenem, mittlerem Tempo, doch mit solchem Druck, dass die Erde zu beben schien, schlossen sie auf und stellten Droṇācārya aus nächster Nähe—ein Bild disziplinierter Angriffslust im unerbittlichen Pflichtgesetz des Schlachtfeldes.
