ततस्तु तुमुलस्तेषां संग्रामो<वर्तताद्भुत: । पज्चालानां कुरूणां च घोरो देवासुरोपम:,तदनन्तर उन पांचालों और कौरवोंमें घोर देवासुर-संग्रामके समान अद्भुत एवं भयंकर युद्ध होने लगा
tatas tu tumulas teṣāṁ saṅgrāmo ’vartatādbhutaḥ | pāñcālānāṁ kurūṇāṁ ca ghoro devāsuro’pamaḥ ||
Sañjaya sprach: „Da erhob sich zwischen den Pāñcālas und den Kurus eine tobende Schlacht—wunderbar an Ausmaß und doch grauenvoll—gleich dem sagenhaften Kampf der Götter gegen die Asuras.“
